Creve Coeur Paving patches Saint Louis Science Center asphalt parking lot with infrared process PART 1

PART 1

Creve Coeur Paving takes care of sink holes in the Science Center’s parking lot easily and quickly with the infrared process.  Creve Coeur Paving is the only paving contractor in St. Louis that has infrared equipment.  Total time to make a permanent, seamless repair was under 30 minutes with a fourth the labor and a tenth of the equipment normal asphalt repairs would take.  After repairs were finished the area was reopened immediately to the rest of the parking lot for normal use.

In the attached video you will see our three man crew remove the infrared machine after its second heating cycle.  In this particular repair we heated the area twice to get better penetration into the defect.  Infrared heats the asphalt internally making it possible to reconstitute the material.  After removing the heater from the affected area, crew members add additional asphalt and rejuvenating oil to the repair.  The best part of the process is that it recycles the existing asphalt right in place.  Very little new asphalt is needed to complete the repair.  Traditional methods would require saw-cutting and replacing the area.  On this particular patch, traditional process would have required approximately 1.25 tons of asphalt.  We used about one 5% of that amount.  Less material means less cost and less impact on the environment.

The infrared process makes certain asphalt repairs simple and easy to make.  No saw cutting, no dump trucks, no bobcats, no 7 man crew to interrupt day to day operations at your business.  Our process is the least intrusive of any methods used to repair asphalt parking lots.  Traditional repairs could require saw cutting.  Whenever you saw cut pavement you leave a vertical seam that can never be mended.  The process of saw cutting is loud and extremely dusty also.  Bobcats take up a lot of space to maneuver around a parking lot and will scuff the pavement.  The more equipment you have on site, means the more mess you will have, and it will also cost more.
